The new lambs (Rupert calls them Thing 1 and Thing 2) seem to be thriving so far, and love their heat lamp. Hazel is desperate to get in with them, and Loretta seems to tolerate her nosiness quite happily.
They are surprisingly active little guys – “Thing 1” even tried out some hay yesterday, and when they hear their mom eating carrots or grain they start smacking their lips and imitating her.
They don’t seem to mind the flash of the camera, but the photo shoots are usually hampered by Loretta, who thinks that the camera is a food source and insists on sticking her nose in front of the lens. Maybe she’s copying Gertrude.
I can’t get over how tight the curls are on their body, while their big ears and long legs are covered in feathery wisps. Right now you can tell them apart because #2 didn’t get cleaned off as well as #1 (despite help from Hazel), so he still has a bit of a yellow tinge to him. Also, he has an interesting black spot on his front shin…an ovine birth mark?
